Utilizing Sharepoint For Collaboration and Beyond
With the 2007 release of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS), Microsoft has provided a platform that is extremely multifaceted and can address a number of needs that are typical in day-to-day business. HighPoint has completely embraced SharePoint as the base platform for addressing these specific needs from collaboration to full-blown business process automation. HighPoint has created these areas of focus within our SharePoint competency area.
- Infrastructure Implementation and Hardening - Any SharePoint installation must reside on a solid foundation. This foundation must include an infrastructure that is set up using best practices in the areas of virtualization, Windows Server architecture, SQL Server architecture, as well as the obvious best practices involved in installation and configuration of SharePoint itself. We also specialize in custom setup of System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) to specifically monitor SharePoint. We have set up farms completely from scratch and also done inspections and remediation efforts on existing installations.
- Establishment of a Managed Service - SharePoint is most effective when it is exposed to end users as a managed service within an organization. However, setting up such a service is no trivial exercise. HighPoint has a distinct recipe for setting up such a service within an organization, including the delivery of certain key artifacts such as a governance plan, infrastructure run book, standard operating procedures, reference architecture, and technical roadmap.
- Hosted Managed Service - Building on our experience in setting up a true shared service within a client organization, HighPoint has leveraged that expertise and knowledge to set up its own shared service offering for interested clients. This allows our client base to get all the benefits of a centralized service without the time investment of establishing one internally.
- Collaboration - This is the most popular use for SharePoint and its main true capability in the versions prior to MOSS. HighPoint has talented professionals who have experience implementing large scale collaboration sites in SharePoint versions dating as far back as 2001.
- Beyond Collaboration - MOSS is an extremely robust platform with many foundational components that allow MOSS to become a much more complete solution for many more typical business needs. HighPoint has customized SharePoint to be a total web content management platform, complex business process management platform, business intelligence dashboard solution, and much more. Our professionals in this area can help any business or IT group leverage their corporate SharePoint investment to enable anything their imagination can conceive.
